I am very happily married to the most (almost) perfect man that I have ever met. After two and a half years of marriage, we added our precious daughter to our little family. I would be lying if I told you that my life has gone according to my plan. I never thought that I would be a college dropout or that I would even be a parent. Ever. Thankfully for me, I believe that there is someone watching me from above, someone with a great big sense of humor and impeccable timing.
But I digress…
I found out that I was pregnant during what would have been my final year of college. Although I thought I could do it all – push out a baby while still maintaining a 4.0 – I didn’t even have that chance. We found out a few months into my pregnancy that my husband was getting a promotion, one that entailed us hauling our crap (and my very pregnant baby bump) completely across the country from everyone we knew. And when I say everyone, I mean it. Before moving to Arizona, I had never even been further west than central Alabama. Seriously.
While in Arizona, I gave birth to our little girl and spent the first nine months of her life raising her as best I could as a rookie mom. I lucked out in the husband/father department. He has been so great with her, and those first mornings that I just could NOT get to sleep, he so generously loaded baby into the car and drove her around for an hour, stopping to pick up doughnuts on his way home. Awesome guy, right?!
This isn’t a blog about perfect husband, darling baby, or any of that other mushy stuff that brings ladies to tears. This is a blog about the many parenting challenges and adventures that have led this ordinary, slightly awkward woman into becoming a mommy in this very chaotic, information-overloaded world.
This is my blog and my life, and I am so excited to share a little part of me with you!
