I Hope You Don’t Step On A Lego

Atlanta LEGO lovers – rejoice! A new LEGOLAND Discovery Center is coming to Atlanta in April 2012. Very exciting news, indeed.

On Tuesday, I had the privilege to attend the groundbreaking ceremony that concluded with the ceremonial dumping of the LEGO bricks.

The event was full of excitement and buzz…

And cupcakes. Lots and lots of delicious cupcakes from Davio’s Italian Restaurant.

Fantastic speeches from some of Atlanta’s most prestigious people helped generate even more enthusiasm for the event. We heard speeches by Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed and former mayor Sam Massell, to name a few. Mr. Massell even made a “key to the city” out of LEGO bricks.

The ceremonial dumping of the LEGO bricks was so much fun! Led by two very adorable little boys driving a truck full of LEGOs, the guests of honor each dumped out LEGO bricks onto the floor as a way of symbolically breaking ground on the new LEGOLAND Discovery Center.

We even got to take home some LEGO bricks. Score!

The new Atlanta LEGOLAND Discovery Center is currently under construction at Phipps Plaza, and is expected to open in April 2012. Do you plan on visiting?

Wow! There is a Lego World (or somethingrather) opening in KC in May! Which is good for me since we live in Missouri! 🙂

Very cool! My son is a huge LEGO freak. There is a Legoland amusement park opening in my hometown in FL this month, I think. All of my family members already are thinking of taking Logan when we go home. Have a great Sunday!!
