Baby, It’s COLD Outside! Maisy’s Morning On The Farm

As the weather changes from bad to worse, it’s getting harder to find things to keep the cabin fever away. While it is easy to plop down on the couch with a warm cup of cocoa and a favorite movie, there are other ways to pass the time that are both simple and very very fun!

One thing that I’ve started doing is creating storyline photo essays with my daughter, Danger. One of her favorite characters is Maisy, from Lucy Cousins’s popular children’s book series. While the following photo essay is inspired by a Maisy Farm video I found on youtube, that video was an adaptation of Lucy Cousins’s book Maisy On The Farm. Sit back, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and get inspired to create a storyline photo essay with your child!

Maisy On The Farm

Maisy is working on her grandma’s farm today. She is very excited to see all of the animals.

Hello, Horse. Maisy brought you some delicious corn to eat.

Here’s something to drink, too. Drink up, horse!

Maisy loved riding you, but she can’t play anymore.

Now it’s time for Maisy to clean up after the pig.

Don’t smell the pig’s poop, Maisy!

Next, Maisy gives duck some water to drink. She’s almost finished checking on the animals! There’s just one animal left to see…

After giving baby lamb some yummy milk, Maisy goes home to take a nap. Taking care of animals is hard work!

After reading the book and watching the video together, Danger was more than eager to be put to work taking care of all her animals. It took less than 30 minutes to dress her and to collect supplies for the photo props, and while we acted out the storyline, the amount of time you spend playing around is all up to you!

I’m already thinking about our next activity. I think we are going to attempt Eric Carle’s Very Hungry Caterpillar. What do you think? Is this something that interests you? If you’d like to create your own storyline photo essays, please let me know. Maybe if enough people want to participate, we can make a linky 🙂 Stay warm, my friends!
