My mother is a breast cancer survivor. Watching her take charge of her diagnosis head-on, and with such decisiveness about her course of treatment, really showed me just how brave of a woman that she truly is.
Not all women are as fortunate, however, as breast cancer is still a leading cause of cancer death for women in America. That’s why it’s important to not only be vigilant about raising awareness about breast cancer symptoms and self-checks to your friends and family, but also to the local community.
