What To Expect From Disney On Ice Presents Rockin’ Ever After

My daughter and I were fortunate to attend the opening night performance of Disney On Ice Presents Rockin’ Ever After and I will admit this right up front: It was eye candy at its finest! The pictures mostly speak for themselves. Check out some of my favorite scenes from Rockin’ Ever After:

After an introductory scene with Mickey, Minnie, and friends, we were treated to an unbelievably colorful and upbeat presentation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. It was pretty neat how they were able to replicate the appearance of softly flowing waves during a few key moments throughout this segment. Ariel even did a little bit of acrobatics as she became human! There were even black-light effects on display, which easily made this scene stand out.

Next up was the story of Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled, and how she so courageously pursued her dream of seeing the floating lanterns – and in turn, realized her rightful place as Princess. I was particularly amazed at the ice skating horse, Maximus. We heard some of our favorite songs from Tangled, with the original recordings to make the performance really come to life.

After a short intermission, the show started back up with everyone’s favorite redhead skating onto the scene. That’s right – we got to see Merida perform the Brave story! While I will admit that I had every intention of taking my daughter to see Brave in the theater, we just never got around to it. Seeing parts of it performed live really did make me excited for the Blu-Ray release (Nov. 13th). There were haze effects, fiery arrows, and even a few pyrotechnics during this segment that kept the audience entertained.

The final princess story from Disney On Ice was Beauty and the Beast. We watched as Gaston’s pride and jealousy ultimately led to his demise. We were on the edge of our seats as a mob of villagers marched off to kill the beast at his castle. But best of all, we watched as Belle learned to never judge a book, or beast, by it’s appearance and fell in love with the kind prince underneath it all. Of course this story just wouldn’t be complete without Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and Chip, who all made appearances during this segment (including an elaborately costumed scene accompanying the song Be Our Guest!)

Disney On Ice presents Rockin’ Ever After was an energetic and brilliantly executed performance, as you can see by my very captivated daughter (above). A bit of advice: Allow your child to play dress-up at the event, or else you will spend a little bit of money buying costumed accessories at the show.

There is a brief intermission between the Tangled and Brave stories. It is the perfect time to stretch your legs, run the little ones to the bathroom, and pick up another beverage.

As far as merchandise goes, there was everything from Disney t-shirts to light-up toys. My daughter selected a bag of cotton candy with a princess crown (including stick-on jewels to personalize) for $12 and a snow cone in a Chip mug for $8. Including tax, we spent $22 for these two items, and now have some adorable keepsakes.

Rockin’ Ever After is at Philips Arena now through October 14, before it moves on to the next city. Atlanta folks, you will NOT want to miss this show if you have a Disney fan in your family! I cannot say enough good things about the show – and neither can my three year old daughter, who is currently singing songs from the performance as I type 🙂

  1. I love the pictures.
    Your daughter’s expression is priceless.
We never miss Disney on Ice except this year. I just wish they had a performance in Duluth in addition to Phillips like they did last year

Yes, Marina, I wish that also. I took my daughter on Wed – a school night. Luckily she is an A student, a trooper, and this week there was no HW, and actually a party on Thurs. so it was all good, but we didn’t end up home until 11 :/ (I’m kind of a bad mom, lol)

      • You are not a bad mom at all! You took her to see something that she will remember for a very long time 🙂 I’m glad that things worked out with having a party the next day. Sounds like your daughter had a great week!

    • Thank you so much! She had a blast! 🙂
